San Francisco World Spirits Competition

Run by the Tasting Alliance, this premium competition marks entries based on merit and sets the gold standard for wine and spirit competitions worldwide.

International Spirits Challenge

Now in its 29th year, the competition is founded on an independent judging process that recognises spirits of outstanding quality. It receives “thousands of entries from over 70 countries”.

Chaired by The Spirits Business and a panel of leading spirits specialists, the whiskies are judged in a blind tasting with excellence recognised by category, age and price point.

Held by Whisky Magazine, the competition judges the very best products in the world of whisky. This year, more than 1600 entries were received in 22 categories, including Single Malt, Blended, Bourbon, and Rye.

International Wine and Spirit Competition

The IWSC has been running since 1969 and is among the most prestigious alcoholic drinks competitions globally. Its mission is “to champion the best brands from around the world.”

“Complex nose with cask influence, the sherry influence is evident on the nose with a pronounced aroma. Creaminess on the palate with some fudge and treacle notes. Big sherry, nut, and praline flavours leaves a lasting impression.”

“The nose exudes classic aromas, with a delightful blend of sweet vanilla and dry spice. The palate offers a harmonious mix of freshly cut grass, cooked banana, and lush tropical fruit, leading to a fantastically balanced earthy finish.”

“Dark chocolate and limes aromas. Sweet palate harmonizes sweet smoke; honey glazed ham, BBQ spareribs, with hints of leather and boot polish. Fun, bold, round, yet everything sits nicely together – very well integrated for a younger whisky.”

“A surprising aromatic hint of banana leads into a palate full of fruit salad sweetness. Dark sugars and ginger cake warm mid-palate. The finish lingers with notes of coconut, butter, and spicy sherry.”

“Polished oak and orange oil on the nose. Sweet and smoky palate with candied lemons and damp peat. Mid-palate adds toffee sweetness, liquorice, quite rich and round, zesty orange with rich aniseed shows strongly at the finish.”
