A QUARTET OF CASKS

MIZUNARA VIRGIN OAK

This rare and porous Japanese oak is notoriously challenging to work with, demanding expert craftsmanship in cask-making. Yet the rewards are unparalleled, imparting remarkable depth and complexity. The design reflects the delicate balance and precision essential to its maturation process.

PEDRO XIMÉNEZ SHERRY

Made from very ripe white grapes that are air-dried to concentrate sugars, Pedro Ximénez is an intensely sweet, syrupy sherry aged for years to develop a rich, velvety texture, imparting notes of figs, raisins and molasses. The design echoes the opulence and luxurious density of this cask style.

OLOROSO SHERRY

Subjected to extensive oxidative ageing without a ‘flor’ yeast layer, Oloroso, which roughly translates to ‘fragrant’, is the darkest dry Sherry style renowned for its pronounced nutty and dried fruit qualities. These casks impart richness and depth, mirrored in a bold, textured pattern.

AMERICAN VIRGIN OAK

A staple in whisky maturation, American oak casks are toasted and charred to unlock warm notes of vanilla, caramel, and soft coconut. The accompanying design evokes warmth, character and simplicity, reflecting the smooth, familiar character this cask imparts.

TASTE PROFILE

COLOUR: Intensely Rich Mahogany.

NOSE: Mocha, crystalised cinnamon and treacle tart, followed by cocoa, toasted hazelnuts and pineapple, with soft notes of ginger and heather honey.

TASTE: Cocoa, baking spices and chocolate-coated raisins, followed by coconut, brandied orchard fruits and sandalwood, with vanilla, dried red fruits and honeycomb.

THE PRESENTATION

The packaging draws inspiration from Kumiko, the traditional Japanese woodworking art of assembling intricate wooden patterns without nails.

This technique reflects the same precision, patience and mastery found in the crafting of the whisky itself.

Presented in a striking valchromat box nestled within a bespoke wooden case, the design combines traditional elegance with contemporary innovation.

The sides of the box feature the gable end of the distillery and four distinct patterns, each representing the cask types that shaped the whisky inside.
